Problem:
A dark or brown stain resembling rust may appear in the toilet bowl and be difficult to remove by simple brushing. Bleach also does not remove the stain. The stain may appear permanent.

Solution:
You can use a hard and sharp metal object to try to scrape the hard stain from the toilet bowl's surface. First wet the toilet bowl's surface to reduce friction and scratch-marks. If you choose to use a screwdriver, I suggest using a screwdriver with a flat head instead of a pointed tip so that you don't (over-)damage the toilet bowl's surface and so that the flat tip has more contact with the stain than a pointed tip can have. The thick stain layer came out surprisingly easily in my case; it broke off in pieces as I scraped. Don't use more force than necessary.

Disadvantage of this method: You may create ugly scratch-marks in the toilet. Don't use more force than necessary.
Advantage of this method: Thick stains can be removed by wetting the toilet and using your strength and a flat-headed metal object, for example flat-tipped screwdriver. Don't use more force than necessary.
